Mollie payment gateway

Learn how to set up Mollie as a payment gateway in Shoporama. Mollie supports iDEAL, credit cards, Klarna, PayPal, Apple Pay, Bancontact and many more payment methods.

Mollie is a European payment solution that gives your customers access to a wide range of payment methods. Mollie is particularly popular in the Netherlands and Belgium, but supports payments throughout Europe.

Payment methods

Mollie supports a wide range of payment methods:

  • Credit cards - Visa, Mastercard, American Express
  • iDEAL - The most popular payment method in the Netherlands
  • Klarna - Buy now, pay later (including Klarna Pay Later, Pay Now and Slice It)
  • PayPal - Online payment via PayPal account
  • Apple Pay - Payment via Apple devices
  • Bancontact - Belgian payment method
  • SOFORT/Klarna Banking - European bank transfer
  • SEPA Direct Debit - European direct debit
  • Giropay - German payment method
  • EPS - Austrian payment method
  • Przelewy24 - Polish payment method
  • BLIK - Polish mobile payment
  • TWINT - Swiss payment app
  • Gift card - Payment with gift cards
  • Bank transfer - Direct bank transfer

The methods available depend on your Mollie account configuration and the customer's country.

How to set up

  1. Create an account on mollie.com and get your API key from the Mollie Dashboard
  2. Go to Settings → Payment gateways in Shoporama
  3. Add a new payment gateway and select Mollie
  4. Enter your API key
  5. Select the language for the payment page (Danish, Dutch or English)
  6. Save your settings

Settings settings

The following settings are available for Mollie:

  • API key - Your Mollie API key (required)
  • Language - Select the language for the payment page: Danish, Dutch or English
  • Payment method - Limit to a specific payment method (optional). Leave the field empty to show all available methods
  • Create payments as orders - Enable this if you use Klarna. It sends full order info (item lists, VAT etc.) to Mollie

Tip: If you want to offer Klarna via Mollie, enable "Create payments as orders". It is a requirement from Klarna that they receive detailed order information.

Payment flow

When a customer completes a purchase with Mollie, they are sent to Mollie's payment page where they select the payment method and complete the payment. After payment, the customer is automatically sent back to your online store with the order confirmation.

Mollie automatically sends a notification to Shoporama when the payment is complete, so the order is marked as paid - even if the customer's browser closes along the way.

Refunds

Refunds are handled via the Mollie Dashboard or Shoporama's order management. Mollie supports full and partial refunds of completed payments.

Pricing

Mollie's fees vary depending on payment method, transaction volume, and country. See Mollie's pricing page for current prices. There are no additional fees from Shoporama for using Mollie.
