Zero searches and search analytics
Learn how to use Shoporama's search analytics to find searches without results and optimize your online store.
Shoporama logs all searches in your online store so you can see what customers are looking for - and if they find it. Particularly useful is the zero searches overview: searches that yielded no results. It helps you discover gaps in your assortment or missing keywords on your products.
The dashboard
On your dashboard, you will see an Empty Searches map showing the number of searches with no results in the last 30 days. Click on the map to go directly to the detailed search analysis.
The search analysis
You can find the detailed search analysis under Settings → Searches. Here you can see:
- Keywords - What customers have searched for
- Results - How many products the search returned
- Number of searches - How many times the same keyword was used
- Last search - When the keyword was last used
Filtering
You can filter the search results in several ways:
- Period - Select time period: 7, 14, 30, 90, 180 or 360 days
- Zero searches only - Show only searches that did not return any results
- Sorting - Sort by time, keyword, number of results or number of searches
Optimize based on search data
Zero searches show you exactly what customers are looking for but can't find. Use this data to:
- Add keywords to products - If customers search for a word you haven't used in the product text, you can add it
- Add keywords to categories - Make categories findable via alternative keywords
- Identify missing products - If many customers are searching for a product you don't carry, it might be worth adding it to the range
You can add zero keywords directly to products, categories or pages from the search analytics.
Automatic cleanup
Empty searches are automatically removed after 90 days so the list is always up to date. You can also manually delete specific keywords or remove all zero searches at once.
Tip to keep in mind
Review your null searches regularly. It's one of the easiest ways to improve your online store's conversion rate.
