Set up child money credit, credit and vouchers
Guide to creating financial products in Shoporama - child money credit, regular credit and voucher sales.
In Shoporama, you can create customers with a credit amount - this can be child money credit, gift cards, vouchers or other forms of prepaid credit. Here we'll walk you through how the system works.
How credit works
A customer with credit can use their credit amount to pay in full or in part for orders in your shop. The credit is registered on the customer's profile and is automatically deducted at checkout.
Create a customer with credit
- Go to Customers in admin
- Create a new customer or edit an existing one
- Enter the credit amount in the relevant field
- Click Save
Types of credit
You can use the credit feature for different purposes:
- Child money credit - credit that is earmarked for child-related products
- Gift card - the customer buys a gift card and the recipient gets the credit
- Voucher - compensation to customers for returns or complaints
- Corporate account - credit for business customers who buy on an ongoing basis
Using credit at checkout
When a customer with credit logs in and shops, the credit amount will automatically appear as a payment option at checkout. The customer can choose to use all or part of their credit.
Tip: Credit amount
Credit can be combined with other payment methods. For example, if the customer has 200 kr. in credit and buys for 350 kr. they can pay 200 kr. with credit and the remaining 150 kr. with card.
Implementation in your theme
To display credit amounts in your theme (e.g. in checkout), your developer needs to add the relevant Smarty code. Your theme should check if the customer has credit and show the option to use it.
