Conversions API (CAPI)
What is the Conversions API?
The Conversions API (CAPI) is Meta’s term for server-to-server tracking: Instead of a pixel in the customer’s browser sending events to the platform, the online store’s server sends them directly. The content is the same—for example, a purchase with order value and products—but the data is transmitted without going through the browser. Other major platforms have similar solutions, such as the TikTok Events API, as well as the Pinterest and Snapchat Conversions APIs.
Why does CAPI complement the pixel?
Ad blockers, Safari’s Intelligent Tracking Prevention (ITP), and a lack of cookie consent mean that a traditional pixel misses some of your conversions. Server-side events aren’t affected by browser restrictions, so the platform gets a more complete picture. If the pixel and CAPI are running simultaneously, the platform automatically deduplicates events using a shared event ID, ensuring the same purchase isn’t counted twice. Conversions API in Shoporama
Shoporama’s tracking module supports server-side events for Meta, Pinterest, Snapchat, and TikTok. Simply enter the Pixel ID and an Access Token from each platform under Webshop → Tracking, and Shoporama will send the events from both the browser and the server and handle deduplication. The purchase event is sent from the server once the order is paid for, so it is recorded even if the customer never sees the receipt page.
