Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most common questions about setting up and using the Delaware theme

How do I change my terms and conditions?

Your terms of trade are edited under Setup > Design > Theme settings in the "Terms" section.

Delaware has divided the terms into several separate fields, each with its own WYSIWYG editor:

  • Trade - General terms and conditions
  • Return - Returns and complaints
  • Delivery - Delivery terms
  • Payment - Payment terms
  • ePrivacy - Privacy policy
  • GDPR - Privacy policy

The terms and conditions are automatically displayed in several places in the webshop:

  • In checkout as acceptance links the customer must approve
  • On product pages as accordion tabs (delivery, returns, payment)
  • On a dedicated condition page
  • In order confirmation emails

Tip: You can also use shortcodes like [terms_trade], [terms_return], etc. in WYSIWYG fields to dynamically insert the terms elsewhere.

How does the front page work?

In Shoporama, the front page is a category that is marked as a front page. This means that your front page is technically a product category that appears as a homepage instead of a regular category page.

How to choose your cover category

You set the front page category under Online shop > Edit online shop > General, in the "Front page category" field. Here you select the category that will serve as your front page.

What does this mean in practice?

  • The front page category appears on the root URL (e.g. dinwebshop.dk/) instead of its normal category URL
  • Products added to this category are technically front page products
  • In the category list in the administration, the front page is marked with a blue "Home" badge
  • When you create a new online store, a front page category called "Front page" is automatically created

Customize front page content

The actual content on the front page is controlled via the Page Designer (see next point). Here you can add heros, product lists, categories, banners and much more - whatever the front page category contains.

Tip: You can change the cover category at any time. This can be used to create seasonal front pages with different products, for example.

How do I set up the front page?

The front page in Delaware is set up via the Page Designer, which you find under Setup > Design > Page Designer.

Create a new page and select the page type "Home" (or "Front"). You can then add sections by clicking "Add section". Delaware supports i.a:

  • Hero - Large banner image with title, text and call-to-action button
  • Hero Video Categories - Hero with background video and category overlay
  • Product Slider / Product List - Show your products in carousel or grid
  • Category Slider / Category Feature - Highlight your categories
  • Banner - Two-column banners with images and text
  • Text / Text Two Columns - Free text sections
  • Trustpilot - View reviews from Trustpilot
  • Value Propositions - Show your USPs (e.g. free shipping, fast delivery)
  • Blog List - View recent blog posts

Sections can be dragged up and down to change the order and each section has its own settings for content, images and layout.

Tip: A good front page typically starts with a Hero section, followed by popular products, categories and finally Trustpilot reviews or Value Propositions.

How do I customize content with the Page Designer?

The Page Designer is Delaware's tool for building pages visually. You can find it under Setup > Design > Page Designer.

With the Page Designer, you can customize content on many different types of pages:

  • Front page - Build your homepage with heros, products and categories
  • Category pages - Add extra content above or below the product list
  • Product pages - Add extra sections below the product description
  • Landing pages - Build campaign pages with fully customizable content
  • Static pages - About us, contact, and similar pages
  • Blog posts - Add sections to blog posts
  • System pages - Search, cart, address, thank you page and more.

To get started: Click "Create new" in the Page designer, select the page type and start adding sections. Each section has fields for text, images, links and other customizable settings.

You can create multiple layouts for the same page type and target them to specific categories, products or landing pages.

How do I accept payments?

Payment gateways are configured under Setup > Integrations > Payment gateways.

Click "Add new" and select your payment provider. Shoporama supports i.a.:

  • Stripe - International payment solution with Apple Pay and Google Pay (recommended)
  • Quickpay - Danish payment gateway with Dankort, MobilePay and international cards
  • OnPay - Danish payment gateway with MobilePay and Dankort
  • ePay - Scandinavian payment solution
  • Nets Easy - Nets' modern payment solution
  • Mollie - European payment provider with iDEAL, Bancontact and SOFORT
  • PayPal - International payment
  • Payson - Swedish payment solution with Swish
  • Przelewy24 - Polish payment gateway

For each gateway, you need to fill in the necessary API keys and settings that you get from your payment provider. You can have multiple gateways active at the same time and customers will be able to choose between them at checkout.

Tip: You can set the order of the payment methods by changing the sorting in the list. You can also restrict gateways to specific countries.

How do I set up shipping?

Shipping is configured under Setup > Shipping, where you will find several subpages:

  • Shipping methods - Create and edit your shipping methods (e.g. "Standard delivery", "In-store pickup", "Express delivery")
  • Shipping rates - Set prices per country for each shipping method
  • Weight-based shipping - Set up prices based on weight ranges
  • Freight setup - Set up integrations with PostNord, GLS, DAO and Burd

For each shipping method you can set:

  • Name and price
  • Tracking URL to tracking link
  • Availability by country
  • Maximum weight limit
  • SMS notifications
  • Integration with shipping modules (PostNord, GLS, DAO)

The Delaware theme automatically displays the shipping methods in checkout and also supports free shipping notification, shipping countdown and delivery time estimates.

Tip: Under Setup > Design > Theme settings, you can configure delivery times for in-stock, backorder and out-of-stock products that appear on product pages.

How do I edit emails?

Delaware includes over 20 email templates for all types of communication with your customers. The content of emails is edited under Setup > Design > Theme settings in the "Emails" section.

Here you can customize the subject line and body for each email type with dynamic tags:

  • Order Sent Email - Notification that the order has been sent (with Track&Trace)

  • Order Picked Up - Confirmation that the order has been picked up
  • Order Credit Email - Credit note upon refund

  • Subscription Change - Confirmation when payment card is updated

In each text field you can use dynamic tags such as [customer_name], [order_url], [company_phone], [products_list] and more. These are automatically replaced with the correct values when the email is sent.

Tip: All emails automatically use your logo and company information from the theme settings. The email layout (HTML structure) itself is pre-designed, so you only need to focus on the text.

How do subscriptions work?

Delaware has full support for recurring orders, allowing your customers to take out ongoing subscriptions to your products.

Setting up subscription products

To enable subscriptions on a product, fill in the following fields under Products > Edit product:

  • Subscription price - The price per delivery
  • Subscription interval - How often delivery is made (daily, weekly or monthly)
  • Binding period - How many intervals the customer is bound (optional)

Customer subscription overview

Once the customer is logged in, they can access their subscriptions via "My subscriptions" in the customer profile. Here they can:

  • See an overview of all active and canceled subscriptions
  • Click on each subscription to see details
  • Change next delivery date and delivery interval
  • Update payment card
  • Cancel or reopen subscriptions

Email notifications

Delaware includes 6 subscription email templates that are automatically sent at relevant events: creation, termination, reopening, delivery reminder, scheduled termination and card update.

Tip: Subscriptions require a payment gateway that supports recurring payments (e.g. Stripe or Quickpay). Contact your payment provider to make sure recurring payments are enabled on your account.

How do I change the text on the delivery note?

The packing slip (print template) in Delaware contains a number of standard texts - for example, return policy, contact details and phone hours. These texts can be customized for your store.

How to change the texts

  1. Go to Settings > Translations in admin
  2. Search the "printed_invoice" section
  3. Find the text you want to change and write your own version
  4. Save

Examples of texts you can change

  • Return policy text - The default text mentions a 14-day return policy. If you don't offer returns (e.g. food, beer, personal products), you can change or remove this text
  • Contact information text - The text to contact the store via email
  • Phone hours - The default text "Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm" can be customized to your opening hours
  • Column headings - Item no., Quantity, Description, Variant, Unit price, Amount

Tip: You print the delivery note via order details in admin. If you see unwanted text at the top and bottom of the printout (e.g. URL and date), it's your browser's print setting - not Shoporama. In most browsers you can turn off "Headers and footers" in the print dialog.

What is the difference between Delaware and DelawareDK?

Delaware comes in two versions:

  • Delaware - The English version of the theme. All default texts, buttons, labels and email templates are in English.
  • DelawareDK - The Danish version of the theme. All default texts are translated into Danish.

Other than the language, the two themes are identical. They have the same features, same design, same components and same Page Designer sections.

When should I use which one?

  • DelawareDK - If your webshop primarily caters to Danish customers
  • Delaware - If your online store is international, English-language or if you use Shoporama's translation system to handle multiple languages

Tip: No matter which version you choose, you can always customize all texts via the theme settings. You can also enable multi-language support in the theme settings if you want your online shop in multiple languages.
