Google Shopping category ID on products
Guide to adding Google Shopping category IDs to products in Shoporama via extra fields.
Google Shopping requires that each product have a Google Shopping category (google_product_category). In Shoporama, you can specify this at the product level in the "Google Category" field under the product's "Fields" tab.
How to Specify the Category ID

- Find the correct category ID in Google’s product taxonomy
- Open the product, go to the " Fields " tab, and fill in the " Google Category " field (use the "Find" button to search if necessary)
- Enter the category ID for each product (e.g., 1604 for T-shirts)
Via CSV Import
You can import category IDs via CSV:
item_number;google_category
PROD-001;1604
PROD-002;3032
Typical category IDs
| Product type | Category ID |
|---|---|
| Clothing & Accessories | 166 |
| Electronics | 222 |
| Home & Garden | 536 |
| Sports & Leisure | 988 |
Tip
Choose the most specific category. “Men’s T-shirts” is better than “Clothing.” This improves visibility in Google Shopping.
