Copy a product

Guide to copying a product in Shoporama - including variants, images and descriptions.

If you need to create a product similar to an existing one, you can copy it instead of starting from scratch. The copy will have all the data of the original product, but with a new item number.

How to copy a product

  1. Go to Products in your admin
  2. Find the product you want to copy
  3. Click the Copy button(two overlapping squares)
  4. A new product is created with all data from the original
  5. Edit the title, item number, price and other fields as needed
  6. Click Save

What is copied?

When you copy a product, the following is included:

  • Title and descriptions (description A and B)
  • Prices - including offer price and cost price
  • Images - all product images are copied
  • Categories - the product is placed in the same categories
  • Extra fields - all extra fields and their values
  • SEO fields - meta title and meta description

What is not copied?

  • Item number - you need to enter a new unique item number
  • URL - the new product gets its own URL based on the title
  • Stock status - the stock is reset on the new copy
  • Sales statistics - number of sold and views starts from 0

Tip to use

The copy feature is ideal when you have many similar products - for example, the same product in different colors. Create the first product thoroughly and then copy to the other variants.
