Gather all your images in one place and reuse them throughout your entire online store. Upload them once, and insert the same image into products, pages, blog posts, and campaigns. This is especially handy during seasonal changes.

The image library is a single central location where you can store all your online store’s images and reuse them anywhere. Instead of uploading the same image over and over again, you upload it once and retrieve it wherever you need it. This saves time, helps you keep track of your graphics, and ensures a more professional and consistent look in your store. You can find the library in the admin panel under Design → Image Library.

Upload Once, Reuse Everywhere

The basic principle is simple: You only need to upload an image once. Once it’s in the archive, you can use it as many times as you want without having to locate the file on your computer again. This is especially useful during seasonal changes and campaigns, when the same banners, logos, and mood images need to be reused in multiple places in a short amount of time.

You can upload images by either dragging and dropping files directly into the archive or by clicking to select them from your computer. You can upload multiple files at once. The library supports JPG, PNG, GIF, and WebP, and each file can be up to 10 MB. Large images are automatically scaled down to a maximum of 2000 pixels upon upload, so you don’t clutter the library with unnecessarily large files.

Keep track of everything with folders

As your image collection grows, folders help you maintain an overview. You can create a folder using the “New Folder” button, and even empty folders are saved, so you can safely build a structure in advance. Each folder shows how many photos it contains, and you can search by name or description to quickly find the right photo.

  • Create, rename, or delete folders using the three-dot menu.
  • Search by name or description, and view the number of photos per folder.
  • If you delete a folder, the images aren’t deleted. They’re simply moved to “All,” so nothing is lost.

Edit and Manage in Bulk

You can edit an image by clicking the pencil icon. Here, you can add alt text and a description, move the image to another folder, copy the image’s URL, or delete it. The alt text is the text that describes the image for search engines and for visitors who use screen readers. It’s good to include for both accessibility and SEO.

If you need to clean up a large number of images at once, click on the images themselves to select them, or use “Select All.” In the action bar at the bottom, you can then move or delete multiple images at once. This makes cleaning up after a completed campaign a quick and easy task.

Insert images directly into the text

The image library is built into all text fields with a rich-text editor—that is, the toolbar you use when creating content. This applies to product descriptions, pages, blog posts, categories, campaigns, and landing pages. You’ll find an image button in the toolbar; select an image from the archive or upload a new one, and insert it directly into the text.

When you insert an image, you can choose the size: Small (400px), Medium (800px), Large (1200px), or Very Large (1600px). Afterward, you can align the image to the left, center, or right using the alignment buttons in the toolbar. The image is inserted as a link to the archive, so you don’t have to upload it again, and the same image can be used as many times as you like.

Automatic optimization of inserted images

When you insert an image into the text, it is delivered in exactly the size you selected as a compressed WebP file. WebP is a modern image format that offers small file sizes without any visible loss of quality. The result is saved and served again the next time the page is viewed, so your pages load quickly for customers, and you don’t have to manually resize and compress images before using them.

Your Own Private Archive

Each online store has its own private image archive. Other stores cannot see your images or folders, and you cannot see theirs. Your graphic materials, campaign images, and product photography are visible only to you and your team.

For developers

If you’re a developer or work with automation, the archive’s features can also be controlled via the REST API and AI tools (MCP). This makes it possible to upload, organize, and retrieve images programmatically. You’ll find the technical details in the Image Archive guide.

If you’re ready to get started or want all the details, read the Image Archive guide, where we walk you through uploading, folders, inserting images into text, and bulk management step by step.
