Security by default
HTTPS is no longer a luxury - it's a necessity. Your customers expect to see the green padlock in the browser and Google uses HTTPS as a ranking signal. That's why SSL/TLS is included for free in all Shoporama plans.
What is HTTPS?
HTTPS (HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure) encrypts all communication between the customer's browser and your online store. This means that sensitive information such as credit card numbers, passwords and personal data cannot be intercepted along the way.
Why is it important?
- Customer trust - the green padlock and "https://" in the address bar signal security. Customers are more likely to shop at a store they trust
- Google ranking - Google has confirmed that HTTPS is a ranking signal. Without HTTPS, you risk being overtaken by competitors
- Google Shopping requirements - if you want to advertise via Google Shopping, HTTPS is an absolute requirement
- Browser warnings - modern browsers mark HTTP pages as "Not secure". This scares customers away
- PCI compliance - HTTPS is a requirement to handle card payments securely
Automatic and free
No need to order, install or renew certificates. Shoporama handles it all automatically - including certificate renewal. This also applies if you use your own domain.
Full HTTPS - everywhere
All traffic to your online store is automatically redirected to HTTPS. This applies to the front page, product pages, checkout and admin panel. There are no HTTP holes that can compromise security.
