A-record
What is an A record?
An A record (Address Record) is the most basic type of DNS record. It connects a domain name to an IPv4 address, so the browser knows which server to contact when someone visits your domain.
A-record for webshops
When you connect your own domain to your online store, you typically need to create an A-record with your domain provider that points to the online store platform's server IP. You can also use a CNAME record as an alternative for subdomains.
If your online shop changes servers, the A record needs to be updated to the new IP address. The change can take up to 48 hours to take effect due to DNS caching.
