A-record

An A record is a DNS record that maps a domain name directly to an IP address. It is the most basic DNS record for online stores.

What is an A record?

An A record (Address Record) is the most basic type of DNS record. It links a domain name to an IPv4 address, so the browser knows which server to contact when someone visits your domain.

A Records for Online Stores

When you connect your own domain to your online store, you’ll typically need to create an A record with your domain provider that points to the online store platform’s server IP. You can also use a CNAME record as an alternative for subdomains.

If your online store changes servers, the A record must be updated to the new IP address. The change may take up to 48 hours to take effect due to DNS caching.
