Why ViaBill makes sense in your webshop
ViaBill is the oldest and most widely used BNPL service on the Danish market. For your customers, a webshop with ViaBill means that they can split the payment into monthly installments without any fees as long as the installments are paid on time. For you, it means higher average orders and better conversion, especially on products over DKK 1,000.
Shoporama has a full ViaBill integration via QuickPay, including a ViaBill widget on product pages that shows the customer the monthly installment even before they click Add to cart.
How ViaBill works in Shoporama
ViaBill is not a standalone gateway. It is a payment method that is activated via QuickPay. When a customer selects ViaBill in your checkout:
- The customer is sent to ViaBill's own flow
- ViaBill performs a quick credit check (typically under 5 seconds)
- The customer chooses the number of installments (from 2 and up)
- ViaBill approves, pays you up front via QuickPay, and the customer is through checkout
- The order is created in Shoporama with payment status approved and ViaBill marked as payment method
You have your money immediately. ViaBill has taken over the credit risk and collects the installments from the customer every month.
What do you get as a store owner?
- Higher average order. Online stores that offer ViaBill typically experience 20 to 40 percent higher average orders. The effect is greatest on products over DKK 1,000.
- Money up front. ViaBill settles you in full immediately. You have no credit risk and don't wait for the customer to pay the installments.
- Widget on product pages. The ViaBill widget shows the customer the monthly installment already on the product page. This increases conversion by making the BNPL option visible early in the buyer journey.
- No extra integration needed. Once you have QuickPay, ViaBill is just a checkmark. No separate gateway agreement, no extra technical steps.
- Refunds via Shoporama admin. If the customer returns a ViaBill-paid item, you refund in Shoporama and ViaBill handles the cash flow back to the customer.
How to get started
- Set up an account with ViaBill if you don't already have one. ViaBill typically approves in 1 to 2 business days.
- Set up or confirm your QuickPay integration. ViaBill requires QuickPay as the underlying gateway.
- Enable ViaBill in your QuickPay configuration as an accepted card type.
- Enable ViaBill as a payment method in Shoporama admin under Settings and payment gateways.
- (Optional) Enable the ViaBill widget on product pages by entering your ViaBill shop ID in Shoporama admin.

What you need to be aware of
Three things to know before you go live with ViaBill:
- Only via QuickPay. ViaBill only runs via QuickPay on Shoporama. If you use Mollie, Stripe or another gateway, you need to add QuickPay as an additional gateway to get ViaBill. You can have multiple gateways active in parallel.
- Credit approval can reject the customer. ViaBill's credit rating is their own and you cannot influence it. It's therefore a good idea to have a card alternative active so that declined customers can pay by card instead.
- Manual verification after callback. ViaBill payments require you to manually verify the order in some cases (especially for physical items to be shipped). Check the order notes in the Shoporama admin for any ViaBill alerts. This is not something that happens often.
Frequently asked questions about ViaBill in the online shop
What is the difference between ViaBill and Klarna?
Both are BNPL services, but ViaBill is primarily Danish and Klarna is international. ViaBill is typically cheaper for you as a shop owner in the Danish market, while Klarna has wider geographical coverage. Many shops offer both in parallel and let the customer choose.
Do I need a separate agreement with ViaBill?
Yes, you do. You need to have an agreement directly with ViaBill (they are not part of the QuickPay agreement). ViaBill will typically contact you after you've expressed interest, or you can sign up directly on their website.
How long does it take to get ViaBill live?
The ViaBill agreement takes 1 to 2 business days to get approved. The actual technical integration on your Shoporama store takes 5 to 10 minutes if QuickPay is already set up.
Can I remove ViaBill from specific products?
Yes, you can. You can use the payment method restrictions in the Shoporama admin to set rules for which products ViaBill should appear on. It makes sense to remove ViaBill from e.g. gift cards or products under 100 kr.
How much of a conversion effect does ViaBill have?
The effect varies with your industry and price points. Typically, webshops with products over $100 see a 15 to 30 percent higher conversion rate on products where the ViaBill widget is visible on the product page.
What happens if the customer doesn't pay the installments?
That's ViaBill's problem, not yours. ViaBill has already paid you, so if the customer defaults, ViaBill must recover the amount.
Does ViaBill affect my accounts?
ViaBill settles just like card payments via QuickPay. In your accounting program, ViaBill payments are booked as a regular payment. If you have a webshop with e-conomic or webshop with Dinero, it integrates automatically.
Can I display the ViaBill price in multiple currencies?
ViaBill primarily displays in DKK. If you sell in other currencies, ViaBill is typically hidden for those customers. This is a conscious design choice from ViaBill.
