That's why ViaBill makes sense for your online store
ViaBill is the oldest and most widely used BNPL service on the Danish market. For your customers, an online store with ViaBill means they can split the payment into monthly installments with no fees, as long as the installments are paid on time. For you, this means higher average order values and better conversion rates, especially for products priced over 1,000 kr.
Shoporama offers full ViaBill integration via QuickPay, including a ViaBill widget on product pages that shows customers the monthly installment amount even before they click “Add to Cart.”
How ViaBill Works in Shoporama
ViaBill is not a standalone gateway. It is a payment method that is activated via QuickPay. When a customer selects ViaBill at your checkout:
- The customer is redirected to ViaBill’s own checkout flow
- ViaBill performs a quick credit check (typically in under 5 seconds)
- The customer selects the number of installments (2 or more)
- ViaBill approves the transaction, pays you upfront via QuickPay, and the customer completes checkout
- The order is created in Shoporama with a payment status of “Approved” and ViaBill marked as the payment method
You receive your payment immediately. ViaBill has assumed the credit risk and collects the installments from the customer each month.
What do you get as a store owner?
- Higher average order value. Online stores that offer ViaBill typically see a 20 to 40 percent increase in average order value. The effect is greatest for products priced over 1,000 DKK.
- Money Up Front. ViaBill pays you in full immediately. You have no credit risk and don’t have to wait for the customer to pay the installments.
- Widget on product pages. The ViaBill widget shows the customer the monthly installment right on the product page. This boosts conversion by highlighting the BNPL option early in the purchase journey.
- No additional integration required. If you have QuickPay, ViaBill is just a checkbox. No separate gateway agreement, no extra technical steps.
- Refunds via Shoporama admin. If a customer returns an item paid for with ViaBill, you process the refund in Shoporama, and ViaBill handles the funds back to the customer.
How to Get Started
- Set up an agreement with ViaBill if you don’t already have one. ViaBill typically approves applications within 1 to 2 business days.
- Set up or confirm your QuickPay integration. ViaBill requires QuickPay as the underlying payment gateway.
- Enable ViaBill in your QuickPay configuration as an accepted card type.
- Enable ViaBill as a payment method in the Shoporama admin under Settings and Payment Gateways.
- (Optional) Enable the ViaBill widget on product pages by entering your ViaBill shop ID in the Shoporama admin.

What You Need to Know
Three things worth knowing before going live with ViaBill:
- ViaQuickPay only. ViaBill works exclusively through QuickPay on Shoporama. If you use Mollie, Stripe, or another payment gateway, you’ll need to add QuickPay as an additional gateway to enable ViaBill. You can have multiple gateways active simultaneously.
- Credit approval may decline the customer. ViaBill’s credit assessment is independent, and you cannot influence it. It’s therefore a good idea to have a card payment option available so that declined customers can pay with a card instead.
- Manual verification after callback. ViaBill payments require you to manually confirm the order in certain cases (especially for physical goods that need to be shipped). Check the order notes in the Shoporama admin for any ViaBill warnings. This doesn’t happen very often.
Frequently Asked Questions About ViaBill in the Web Store
What’s the difference between ViaBill and Klarna?
Both are BNPL services, but ViaBill is primarily Danish, while Klarna is international. ViaBill is typically cheaper for you as a store owner in the Danish market, while Klarna has broader geographic coverage. Many stores offer both options and let the customer choose.
Do I need a separate agreement with ViaBill?
Yes. You must have an agreement directly with ViaBill (they are not part of the QuickPay agreement). ViaBill will typically contact you after you’ve expressed interest, or you can sign up directly on their website.
How long does it take to get ViaBill up and running?
The ViaBill agreement takes 1 to 2 business days to be approved. The technical integration into your Shoporama store takes 5 to 10 minutes if QuickPay is already set up.
Can I remove ViaBill from specific products?
Yes. You can use payment method restrictions in the Shoporama admin panel to set rules for which products ViaBill should be displayed on. It makes sense to remove ViaBill from, for example, gift cards or products under 100 kr.
How much does ViaBill boost conversion rates?
The effect varies depending on your industry and your price points. Online stores with items priced over 1,500 DKK typically see a 15 to 30 percent higher conversion rate on products where the ViaBill widget is visible on the product page.
What happens if the customer doesn’t pay the installments?
That’s ViaBill’s problem, not yours. ViaBill has already paid you, so if the customer defaults, ViaBill is responsible for collecting the amount.
Does ViaBill affect my accounting?
ViaBill is settled just like card payments via QuickPay. In your accounting software, ViaBill payments are recorded as a regular deposit. If you have an online store with e-conomic or an online store with Dinero, it integrates automatically.
Can I display the ViaBill price in multiple currencies?
ViaBill is primarily displayed in DKK. If you sell in other currencies, ViaBill is typically hidden from those customers. This is a deliberate design choice by ViaBill.
