DNS setup for your domain
Step-by-step guide to DNS setup so you can use your own domain with your Shoporama online store.
To use your own domain (for example, minshop.com) with your Shoporama online store, you need to point your domain's DNS records to Shoporama's servers. This guide will show you how.
What do you need to do?
You need to create two DNS records with your domain provider:
- A-record - Points your domain (e.g. minshop.dk) to Shoporama's IP address
- CNAME record - Points the www version (e.g. www.minshop.dk) to your domain
Find the IP address in Shoporama
- Log in to your Shoporama administration
- Go to Settings > Domains
- Here you see the IP address your domain should point to
- Add your domain to the list if it's not already there
Set up DNS with your domain provider
Log in to your domain provider and find the DNS settings for your domain. Create the following records:
Type Name Value A @ [IP address from Shoporama] CNAME www minshop.dk
@ means the domain itself (minshop.dk). www is the subdomain (www.minshop.dk).
Wait for DNS update
DNS changes can take up to 24 hours to take effect, but it usually happens within 1-2 hours. You can check the status under Settings > Domains in Shoporama.
SSL certificate
Once the DNS setup is in place, Shoporama automatically creates a free SSL certificate for your domain. This can take up to a few hours after DNS is properly configured.
Troubleshooting
- DNS status shows "verifying" - Wait up to 24 hours. Check that the A-record is pointing to the correct IP.
- "Connection is insecure" - The SSL certificate has not yet been created. Wait until DNS is fully propagated.
- The site doesn't show your shop - Check that the domain is added under Settings > Domains in Shoporama.
