Would you like your products to appear on the price comparison service Kelkoo? With Shoporama’s Kelkoo product feed, you can get your products ready in just a few clicks so that Kelkoo can automatically retrieve them and showcase them to new customers. Here’s a step-by-step guide to getting started.

What is Kelkoo?

Kelkoo is a price comparison service where consumers can compare prices on products from different online stores. When a customer finds your product on Kelkoo, they can click through to your store and purchase the item.

In order for Kelkoo to display your products, it needs what’s called a product feed. A product feed is a file containing information about your products, which Kelkoo retrieves automatically. In Shoporama, the system generates the feed for you. All you need to do is activate it and provide Kelkoo with the file’s location.

Kelkoo is one of several price comparison services you can use. If you’d like to use others as well, you can read about the Google Shopping feed and the Pricerunner feed.

How to enable the Kelkoo feed

It only takes a moment to enable the Kelkoo feed. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings in your Shoporama admin panel.
  2. Select Webshop.
  3. Click the Feeds tab.
  4. Find the Kelkoo section.
  5. Check the box next to " Enable Kelkoo product feed."
  6. Save your settings.

Once the feed is enabled, it will be available at a fixed address based on your own domain:

your-domain.dk/kelkoo.xml

This is the address you provide to Kelkoo so they can retrieve your products. You do not need to create or maintain the file yourself. Shoporama automatically updates the feed so it always reflects your current product selection.

Note: Replace your-domain.dk with your own online store’s domain when you provide the address to Kelkoo.

Control which Kelkoo category your products are placed in

By default, the feed uses the categories you’ve assigned to your products. For most online stores, this works fine, and you don’t need to do anything else.

If you’d rather have a product placed in a specific Kelkoo category, you can control this on the individual product page. To do this, fill in the “merchant-category” field with the desired Kelkoo category, for example, “Baby & Kids – Baby Bath & Body Care.”

Kelkoo has a complete list of its categories, which you can look up on Kelkoo if you want to use a specific category. This is optional, and you only need to do it for products where you want a category other than your own.

Protect your feed (optional)

By default, the feed’s URL is public, so anyone who knows the URL can view it. This is usually not a problem, but if you want only Kelkoo to be able to retrieve the feed, you can protect it with a feed key.

A feed key makes the feed address private, so it only works with the correct key. You can read more about how to create and use a feed key in the article on feed keys.

Frequently Asked Questions

I’m not technical at all. Do I have to create a file myself?

No. Just check the box for “Enable Kelkoo product feed” under Settings, and Shoporama will generate the file for you. All you need to do is provide the address your-domain.dk/kelkoo.xml to Kelkoo.

Where can I find the address for my feed?

The address is always your online store’s domain followed by /kelkoo.xml. For example, if your domain is minbutik.dk, the address is minbutik.dk/kelkoo.xml.

Is the feed updated automatically when I change my products?

Yes. The feed reflects your current product selection, so you don’t need to update or re-upload anything yourself when you change your products.

How do I place a product in a specific Kelkoo category?

Fill in the “merchant-category” field for each individual product with the desired Kelkoo category. If you don’t do this, the feed will automatically use the categories you’ve assigned to the product.

Can others see my feed if they know the address?

Yes, the URL is public by default. If you want only Kelkoo to be able to retrieve the feed, you can protect it with a feed key, which keeps the URL private.

Do I need to use Kelkoo if I’m already using Google Shopping?

It’s entirely up to you. You can easily use multiple price comparison services at the same time. If you’d like to be listed on the others as well, you can set up the Google Shopping feed and the Pricerunner feed in the same way.
