Change your password in Shoporama

How to change your Shoporama admin password. Step-by-step guide and tips for a secure password.

You can change your Shoporama admin password at any time. It's a good habit to do on a regular basis, and always if you suspect others know it.

How to change your password

  1. Click on your name in the top right corner of the admin.
  2. Select Change password in the dropdown menu.
  3. Enter your new password in the New password field.
  4. Enter the same password one more time in the Retype password field.
  5. Click the Change password button.

You will get a green confirmation when the new password is saved. The next time you log out, you will need the new password to log in again.

Tip: We recommend that you also enable two-factor authentication. This adds an extra layer of security so that no one can log in to your account even if the password is leaked. Read more in Login and two-factor authentication (2FA).

Choose a good password

A strong password protects your store, your customer data and your sales. Shoporama does not set a fixed minimum length or characters, but we recommend:

  • At least 12 characters, preferably more.
  • A mix of upper and lower case letters, numbers and special characters, or a long sentence you can remember.
  • Use a password manager so you don't have to remember it yourself.
  • Never reuse passwords from other services.

If you have forgotten your password

Click Forgot password on the login page. Enter your email address and click Send reset link. You will then receive an email with a link where you can choose a new password. If the email does not arrive, check your spam filter and contact support@shoporama.dk.

Important: If you have enabled two-factor authentication, the Forgot password via email will no longer work. This is to prevent someone from bypassing 2FA simply by accessing your inbox. Write to support@shoporama.dk from the email associated with your account and we will help you manually.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find the password change button?

Click on your name in the top right corner of the admin. In the dropdown menu, select Change password. This will take you directly to the page where you can enter the new password.

What are the requirements for my new password?

Shoporama doesn't require a specific length or characters, but the two fields New Password and Repeat Password must be the same. We strongly recommend at least 12 characters, preferably a mix of upper and lower case letters, numbers and special characters. A long sentence you can remember is often safer and easier than a short code with character salad.

How often should I change my password?

If you use a strong, unique password and have two-factor enabled, you don't need to change it often. Change it immediately if you suspect it has gone astray or if someone who should no longer have access knows it.

Will the password change for my employees too?

No, it doesn't. Each user has their own password. Each employee must log in and change their own. Read about creating multiple users if you share one login. It's much better to give each employee their own.

Will I be logged out when I change my password?

You will remain logged in to the session you are in. The next time you need to log in, you will need the new password. We recommend that you log out of other devices afterwards so that only you have access.

I forgot my password and am using two-factor. What should I do?

When 2FA is enabled, the regular Forgot password function does not work. Write to support@shoporama.dk from the email associated with your account. We will manually reset your 2FA so you can log in and set up your password and 2FA again.

What do I do if an employee quits?

Remove the user's access under Users in admin. Read Remove a user from your shop. Also, change the password yourself if you have previously shared logins.

Can Shoporama see my password?

No, it can't. Passwords are stored encrypted with bcrypt, so Shoporama staff can't see or retrieve your password either. If you've forgotten it, you'll need to reset it via Forgot password on the login page.

What is the difference between password and two-factor?

The password is something you know. Two-factor is something you have, such as a code from the Authenticator app or an SMS. Even if someone gets hold of your password, they can't log in without also having your two-factor. The two things complement each other and we strongly recommend that you use both.
