Phone number in MobilePay
Why the phone number is not pre-filled in MobilePay and what the customer can do.
When a customer pays with MobilePay from a PC, they need to enter their phone number in the MobilePay window. Unfortunately, the number cannot be pre-filled automatically - this is a limitation of MobilePay itself.
Why is the number not being filled in?
MobilePay previously supported that the phone number could be sent from the webshop, but the feature was removed by MobilePay. This means that the customer must enter their phone number the first time they pay with MobilePay in a browser.
When is it relevant?
- From PC/laptop: The customer must enter their phone number in the MobilePay window. However, the number is remembered in the browser cache, so the next time they pay with MobilePay in the same browser, it is already filled in.
- From mobile: The customer is sent directly to the MobilePay app and does not need to enter anything.
What can you do?
There is nothing you as a shopowner need to change. Shoporama already sends the customer's phone number to the payment gateway - but MobilePay currently ignores it.
For most customers, it's a one-time experience: once they enter the number once in a browser, MobilePay remembers it for the next time.
Tip of the day
A large proportion of online purchases are made from mobile, where the customer is sent directly to the MobilePay app. Here the phone number is not an issue at all.
