How the e-conomic app handles products
Explanation of how products are handled in the new e-conomic app and what is different from the old integration.
In the previous e-conomic integration, you could manually transfer products from Shoporama to e-conomic as master data. This has changed with Shoporama's new e-conomic app: products are no longer transferred as master data, but are automatically created as line items on the invoices generated by the orders.
How it works now
When an order is transferred to e-conomic via the app:
- Each product on the order is created as a line on the invoice in e-conomic
- The line contains the product SKU (item number), name and price
- If a product with the same SKU exists as a master item in e-conomic, it is automatically used
- If not, a line is simply created with no connection to the e-conomic product catalog
This means you no longer need to maintain a product catalog in e-conomic - all products exist in Shoporama and the product lines are automatically generated on the invoice.
If you need products in e-conomic
If you need to have products as master data in e-conomic for accounting purposes (e.g. to create product-based reports or use them in other integrations), you need to create them manually in e-conomic. Make sure that the SKUs match those in Shoporama so that the invoice lines automatically link to the right items.
What about inventory?
The new e-conomic app does not synchronize inventory. Inventory is handled exclusively in Shoporama. If you previously used the inventory feature in e-conomic, you will need to use Shoporama's inventory management instead, or integrate via a third-party solution.
