Right of withdrawal
The right of withdrawal is the consumer's legal right to cancel a purchase made remotely, for example in a webshop. In Denmark, the right is regulated in the Consumer Contracts Act, and the deadline is generally 14 days from the day the consumer receives the goods.
From June 19, 2026, the rules will be tightened so that webshops must offer a digital cancellation function. The consumer must be able to exercise the right of withdrawal online via a clear and easily accessible function, and the customer must receive a confirmation on a durable medium, typically email.
Certain goods are excluded from the right of withdrawal, including custom-made goods, sealed hygiene products where the seal has been broken and digital content where downloading has begun. Furthermore, the right of withdrawal should not be confused with the right of complaint, which deals with defects in the product.
In Shoporama, the requirement is fulfilled by the digital undo feature. Read more in the article Digital undo: let customers undo their purchase online.
