What are reverse-related products?

In Shoporama, a distinction is made between related products and reverse-related products:

  • Related products: The products you’ve chosen to display on this product’s page. Set up under “Related products” on the product edit page.
  • Reverse-related products: Other products on which you want your product to appear as a related item. In other words, you can choose to have your product displayed as a related item on other products’ pages.

Example

You sell a case (Product A) that fits a phone (Product B). With reverse-related products, you can specify from Product A that it should appear as a related product on Product B’s page—without having to edit Product B.

Here’s how to set it up

  1. Open the product you want to display as a related product (e.g., the case).
  2. Go to the Related Products section, where you’ll find “Reverse-related” at the bottom.
  3. Search for and add the products on which your product should appear (e.g., the phone).
  4. Save the product.

Now the case will automatically be displayed as a related product on the phone’s product page.

The “Related Products” section on the product edit page. Here, you can link related products, and at the bottom of the same section, you’ll find “Reverse Related.”

When is this useful?

  • Accessories that work with many products—set them up once from the accessories section instead of editing each main product.
  • New products you want to quickly display on existing product pages.
  • Promotional products you want to temporarily highlight on other products.

Tip: Find the right products using the “Bought Together” statistics

Not sure which products to link? Under Statistics → Bought Together, you can see which product pairs your customers actually buy in the same order. From there, you can add them as related products with a single click—a quick way to set up both regular and reverse relationships based on actual customer behavior.
