You might be familiar with ChatGPT. The new AI feature in Shoporama works the same way, but it can actually perform tasks in your shop. You type in Danish what you want to get done, and the AI does the rest. No clicking in menus. No long manuals.
This article shows you how to get started, what you can ask for and how to stay in control.
Short: What is it really?
Shoporama can now be paired with Claude, an AI chatbot from Anthropic. Claude works much like ChatGPT. You open a chat, type in what you want to get done, and Claude talks to your shop and does the job.
You can ask it to create products, run campaigns, check sales figures, write blog posts, find 404 errors, add modules to the front page and much more. Over 100 different things actually.
The best part is that the AI has the same rights as you. It can't do anything you can't do yourself in the admin. And you can revoke its access at any time.
Note: This is not the same as the built-in AI assistant in the product editor, which only helps with writing product texts. Here you control the entire shop via chat.
How to get started
It takes about 5 minutes. You'll need a Claude account (you can create one for free at claude.ai) and a login to your Shoporama admin.
- Log in to your Shoporama admin and open Integrations and Manage your shop with AI in the left menu.
- Click the Connect your AI client button.
- Copy the URL you see. This is your shop's unique address for Claude.
- Open claude.ai in a browser on your computer, go to Settings and Connectors and click Add custom connector.
- Paste the URL. Claude opens a login window where you log in with your Shoporama account and choose which shop the AI can work in.
- You're ready to go. Open a new chat and give it a try: Show me the 10 most recent orders
Once you've connected your shop once, it also works automatically in Claude's mobile app. The only thing you can't do on mobile is the initial setup.
What can you ask for?
The more specific you are, the better the answer. Here are examples grouped by area.
Sales and statistics
- "How much have I sold this month compared to last month?"
- "Show me my 10 best-selling products in the last 30 days"
- "Which products have we sold the least in the last quarter?"
- "Are there any orders from today?"
Products and categories
- "Set the price of the product on https://mineshop.dk/sort-uld-hat to 399 kr"
- "Create 5 new products from this supplier PDF"
- "Move all products in the 'Summer Sale' category to 'Outlet'"
- "Find all products without an image"
Promotions and discounts
- "Create a 10% discount code called SUMMER26 that expires on June 30"
- "Create a promotion: buy three in the Coffee category and get the cheapest one free"
- "Create a $50 gift card code that can only be used once"
Home page and design
- "Add a newsletter module at the bottom of the front page"
- "Change the primary color of the theme to dark blue"
- "Add a hero banner with the text 'Spring sale' at the top of the front page"
- "Add https://mineshop.dk/sort-uld-hat to the submenu in my top menu"
Content
- "Write a blog post about our new Colombian coffee beans and publish it"
- "Translate our 'About us' page into English"
- "Create a landing page for the spring sale with 5 of our best products"
SEO and operations
- "Which keywords have returned 0 results in the last month?"
- "Which 404 errors should I redirect to?"
- "Generate a shipping label for order 1076"
How to write great messages
Claude is an AI, so it's good at understanding most of what you write. But a few simple rules will yield significantly better results:
- Be specific with numbers and dates. Say "expires June 30" instead of "expires this summer". Say "10% off" instead of "slightly off".
- Use URLs if you have them. If you're referring to a product, category or page, copy the URL into the chat. Claude will then look up what you mean.
- Ask for confirmation before making big changes. For example: "Before you actually create the campaign, tell me what it will look like." Then you won't have any surprises.
- One task at a time. In the beginning. Once you get the feeling, you can ask for several things in the same message.
- Claude doesn't remember between conversations. Every new chat starts from scratch. Important choices (e.g. "we always use free shipping over 500 kr") should be mentioned again or saved in admin.
Security and control
It's understandable to think: "Do I really need to give an AI access to my webshop?" Here's what you should know:
- The AI can only do what you can do. It has the same rights as your login user. Nothing more, nothing less.
- You choose which shop it can work in. If you have multiple shops on your account, the AI only has access to the one you authorize.
- Everything is logged. Every time the AI does something in your shop, it is written in a log that you can see under Manage the shop with AI and Audit log. What, when, what IP call - everything.
- You can withdraw access at any time. Log in to admin and remove the connection. Then the old access no longer works.
- Your data is sent to Anthropic (the company behind Claude) as part of the chat. It's just like when you use ChatGPT or any other AI chat. Check out Anthropic's privacy policy if you want to know more.
What if the AI makes mistakes?
It can happen. AIs are good, but not infallible. For example, it can misunderstand a product name and update the wrong product.
Three things help:
- Ask it to confirm before important changes (see previous section).
- Check the audit log if you're not sure what happened.
- Everything can be fixed manually in admin afterwards. Changes are not "locked" to the AI.
Frequently asked questions
Does it cost extra to use it?
The connection between Shoporama and Claude is free and included in your subscription. Claude itself has a free tier you can start at. If you use it a lot, you can upgrade to a paid Claude plan directly from Anthropic.
Can I use an AI other than Claude?
Yes, you can. Shoporama's connection uses an open standard, so other AI clients that speak the same language (like Cowork) can also connect. Right now, Claude is the easiest to set up.
Can the AI delete my products by mistake?
Only if you ask it to. And Shoporama never hard deletes. When a product is deleted via the AI, you can always find it back and restore it in the admin.
Is my customer data sent out by Shoporama?
When you ask the AI for something involving customer data (e.g. "show me orders from yesterday"), the relevant information is sent to Claude as part of the conversation. Anthropic (the company behind Claude) does not generally use your chats to train future AI models. However, you should familiarize yourself with Anthropic's privacy policy before trusting it with sensitive data.
Can my employees use it too?
Yes, they can. Each employee can connect their own Claude account to the shop. Their actions in the shop are logged in their own name, just like when they work directly in admin.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes, in the Claude mobile app. But the initial setup must be done from a computer. Once the connection is set up, it works automatically wherever you are logged into your Claude account.
Can I see what the AI has done in my shop?
Yes, you can. Go to Integrations and Manage the shop with AI and Audit log in admin. It shows all actions the AI has performed: what, when and if it was successful. The log is saved for 90 days.
What do I do if the AI creates an order with incorrect prices?
Open the order in admin and cancel or correct it manually, just like any other order. Write an internal note so your team knows what happened. Then ask the AI to create the order again with the correct prices.
Should I cancel my product text AI?
No, you don't. The built-in AI that writes product descriptions directly in the editor is still available and will continue unchanged. The new chat integration is a supplement, not a replacement.
Can I limit what the AI can do?
Right now, the AI client gets the same rights as the user who connects it. If you have an employee who can only read data, the connected AI also gets read-only access. Finer rights per area (e.g. "cannot delete products") are on our roadmap.
Try it out
The quickest way to understand the value is to try it yourself. Log in to admin, go to Integrations and Manage the shop with AI and follow the setup. First prompt you should try: How did sales go this month?
Second prompt when you're ready: a specific task you've been putting off. Maybe it's cleaning up 404 errors, setting up a campaign, or writing a blog post you never get around to.
